Deer Creek

Deer Creek Golf Club

Deer Creek is a very nice golf course and is a good course for the more experienced golfer even though they say the course is quite forgiving and fair to the average golfer.  This course was a very reasonable price where I played there after 4 p.m and they charged me $25 for unlimited golf until it was too dark to be able to see the golf ball.  Deer Creek was in great condition and was a great treat.  In the photo above this is me practicing and getting ready to tee it up for a round of golf.  Deer Creek is  a hidden gem that is off of Hillsboro Blvd and is a great course for anyone to go play.  If you have free time and want to have a really nice round with a group of guys then Deer Creek is the perfect course for you.

Important week for the Nationwide Tour

Nationwide Tour Championship

This week we have many Nationwide Tour players who are on the edge of earning their 2012 PGA tour Card so this week there is going to be some stress for these professional golfers.  This week is the Nationwide Tour Championship which is being held in Charleston, South Carolina.  The top 60 players in the Nationwide tour make it to the Tour Championship and then after the top 25 for the year are decided those are the players who will gain full status on the 2012 PGA season.  This week is going to be a very stressful week for those who don't make it into the top 25 because if they don't make it then they have to go to the final stage of Q school and play 6 rounds to determine whether or not they will be playing on the PGA tour for next season.

Follow the Nationwide Tour Championship:

PGA tour Qualifying School

PGA TOUR Q SCHOOL

Qualifying school is where all golfers in the world go and try to compete to become a member of the PGA tour.  This is the most stressful tournament for former PGA tour players because if after a full year on tour and if your outside of the top 125 on the money list then you have to go back to Q school to get your PGA card again.  Some people go to Q school for their whole life trying to make it to play on the PGA but the worst part is, it costs a lot of money.  To enter Q school you pay $2,400 to play in the Pre Qualification Stage and then if you make it through this stage then you pay another $2,600 which covers the next three stages if you make it that far.

Q school is 17 rounds of golf and after the first 3 rounds there is a cut to who makes it to the First Stage and then after four rounds at the First Stage then there is another cut to who makes it to the Second Stage.  When you get to the second stage you are playing with old former PGA pros who either are to old and still want to play golf or the competition is just getting way better.  Second Stage is four rounds of golf and then if you make it through this you go to the Final Stage of Q School where you play with the best of the best golfers in the world who are all competiting to play on the PGA tour.  If you make it to the Final Stage you automatically get some type of exemptions into the Nationwide Tour which is the tour below the PGA but still playing with the best golfers in the world.  The Final Stage is 6 rounds long and I will be following the next few stages hoping that a kid from my county makes it through and onto the PGA tour.

This week I will be focusing on a kid named Chris Gold who lives in Haddonfield, NJ and has played in many of the same tournaments that I have played in.  This would be a great story if a local made it onto the PGA tour.

After 3 rounds in the First stage he is in T14 and top 22 and ties make it to the second stage.

Off the course

Edwin Watts Golf Shop

With the weather being so bad and since it has been raining every single day this week I decided to do something different and that was to go to a golf store and buy some clothing and look at the new clubs that just came out in the store.  This was such a fun experience because since it was so nasty outside I was able to stay inside and I went on the big screen and hit golf balls into it.  This is really cool because you are able to still work on your swing and they had a little putting green where you are able to work on your putting stroke and test out all different kinds of new putters.

Boca Del Ray Country Club

This week I made a ride down about a mile and a half north on military trail and on my left hand side was Boca Del Ray Country Club.  This is a private course but since I was on the golf team they still allowed me to play.  Usually when I play golf the courses that I play are usually a par 72, but this course is a shorter golf course and is a par 60.  The good thing about this golf course is that it helps a lot with your short game as well as your short and long irons.  The majority of courses also call for a driver, but this course calls for Accuracy.  Boca Del Ray is a good course to just sharpen your game and when I went there and played I had a great time because I love playing golf when it only takes a couple hours and then you can get out of there.

This Private Country Club has a lot to offer and is a lot of FUN!!!

Tiger Woods Results

Tiger Woods Pleased with the way he PLAYED!!!

This week Tiger returned to golf after about a 7 week layoff and came out firing on the first hole back with a beautiful shot in the middle of the fairway which lead to a short iron to the green about 10 feet away.  He then knocked in the putt for birdie and got started.  After the first round of golf Tiger Woods was right near the cut line and there has never been a time in his career that he missed the cut back to back.  He shot 73 in the first round but came back strong in the second round with a 3 under 68. After making the cut by 2 shots Tiger had a solid weekend performance and shot 68-68 to finish in a tied for 30th place for the week.  Tiger was very pleased with the way he played but stated that he had trouble reading the greens and getting the speed on the green.  He will be back in action when he goes to Sydney, Australia when he plays in the Emirates Australian Open.

Delray Beach Golf Club

Delray Beach Golf Club

This week I found a hidden public golf course that is located in Delray Beach and is located off Linton Boulevard.  After taking me about 30 minutes to find the golf course I went and checked into the pro shop and went out and played a round of 18 holes.  This was a good golf course, but it was a public golf course meaning that it wasn't as prestigious as some of the other hidden gems that I have played in the past few weeks.  Overall, this was a surprising golf course because even though I was having trouble finding the golf course there was really something special back there in no where land.  A main key to Delray Beach Golf Club is there affordable rates.  After 2:30 it costs $20 for 18 holes of golf which is a very affordable price in this economy.
